Singapore Provisional Squad for 2013 SEA Games

The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is pleased to announce a provisional 30-man squad who will come together for the final phase of preparations for the 2013 Myanmar SEA Games in December.

The match fixtures for the SEA Games will be released at a later date, following a draw which will be conducted later this month.

The team selection comprises a good mix of players from the two developmental teams, namely the LionsXII and the Courts Young Lions, who have represented Singapore at the Merdeka Tournament, as well as international friendly matches played earlier this year.

Head coach of the Under-23 team, Aide Iskandar expresses his optimism ahead of the SEA Games: “We have a committed group of players in this squad who are determined to earn a place to travel to Myanmar. Most of these players recently participated in international friendly matches and tournaments, with some having been a part of the senior national side.

The exposure given to the young players in these matches has been essential to their development and will add value to the team’s strength. The players who participated in the international friendly matches against the Indonesia and Philippines Under-23 teams have done well, some even earning praise from my counterparts for their dedication on the pitch.”

The team is ready to do Singapore proud in the upcoming SEA Games and I am certain that the players will work hard to do well in the competition. We will take one game at a time, as we hope to progress past the group stage. We look forward to the support of all our stakeholders, including the media and our fans, as we work together to fulfil our target.

I would also like to thank coach Bernd for his guidance, as well as to extend my appreciation to the backroom staff and the management for their utmost support in the team’s preparation ahead of the SEA Games.”

The team will start training in October 24, 2013 from 7 to 9 pm at the Geylang Field.
