MALAYSIAN UPDATED. Malaysian pair Vivian Ho-Woon Khe Wei created an upset to enter the women's badminton doubles final at the Myanmar SEA Games.
In the semi-finals at the Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium here Friday, the Malaysian pair beat second seeded Shinta Mulia Sari-Yao Lei of Singapore 23-21, 17-21, 21-17.
They however will have to work extra hard as they will be meeting top seeds Nitya Krishinda Maheswari-Greysia Polii of Indonesia in the final for the gold Saturday.
Meanwhile, Malaysia's challenge in the men's doubles and the mixed doubles ended after the Malaysian pairs lost in the semifinals and have to settle for bronze medals, which are automaticlly awarded to the losing semifinallists.
The pairs of Lim Khim Wah-Ow Yao Han and Goh V Shem-Teo Kok Siang lost to the Indonesians in straight sets.
Khim Wah-Yao Han lost to Angga Pratama-Ryan Agung Saputro 16-21, 15-21 while V Shem-Kok Siang were defeated by Berry Angriawan-Ricky Suwardi 17-21, 18-21.
The mixed doubles pair of Tan Aik Quan-Lai Pei Jing were defeated by Maneepong Jongjit-Sapsiree Taerattanachai of Thailand 15-21, 17-21.
